On Saturday 7th October 2023 at John Atkinson Sports Centre Myton School in Warwick, the even age Warwickshire restricted tournament for non-county players took place that saw a number of Solihull and Shirley juniors take part. This was a great experience for all the junior players to gain some competition experience and practice many of the shots they using in training against other players.
There were some great performances by many of the junior players and saw a number medals secured.
Gold medals for Nanda in U12 , Xavier in U14, Nakita in U16 Marcus in U16 and Louisa in U18
Silver medal for Louie in U14 and Anirudu in U18 obtained.
Bronze medal for Karthik in U16
On the 9th September 2023 Louie, Mya , Sanyukta, Nikita and Louisa took part in assisting Kiara Henry in finishing her final level 2 Badminton England coaching qualification, under the supervision and assessment of Paul Harris. Another qualified coach at Solihull and Shirley Badminton Club.

Great to see some of our players taking part in the Warwickshire University Silver on the 22nd and 23rd of April 2023 and congratulations to Kiara Henry on winning the women's doubles with her partner Vanessa Chien.
On the Friday the 21st April 2023 the Solihull and Shirley juniors took part in a friendly match against Jubilee Juniors from Coventry. It was a great turnout by both sides with players aged from 6 to15 years old of all standards taking part. Each game was played in the true spirit of badminton by both players and supportive parents enjoying the event.
A big thank you to the whole of Jubilee Badminton Club for travelling to Langley School to take part.
There is also the Odd Age Groups that will be on the 12th of November 2022 - at the John Atkinson Sports Centre, Myton School, Warwick.

Entry criteria is live, born or go to school in Warwickshire, non-county squad players and not to have competed in any Badminton England Tournaments in the last 12 months.
On the 15th of October 2022 the junior county Restricted Singles Entry Form for Saturday 15th October 2022 - Even Age Groups - U10 U12 U14 U16 and U18.
It has been reported that Farhaan who takes part in the coaching sessions on Saturday and Mondays took part and took silver medal in the boys singles in the under 14 age group.

There a number of changes to the club matches as follows:-
Coventry Mens vs AT7 (away) - moved to 30th March (instead of 16th February)
Birmingham Mens vs Broadway (home) - 10th March
Birmingham Mens vs Broadway (away) - 14th January
On the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of October 2022 at St Nicholas Leisure Centre in Warwick many members of Solihull and Shirley took part in the Warwickshire Senior Country Restricted competition that included Tom Mchugh, Tom Burton, Jon Fletcher, Mark Rigby, Dan McHugh, Chris Greenhill, Will Kitching and Andrew Wainwright
Andy and Cat Hancox took the mixed doubles title with a two set win in the final.
Andy and Will taking Silver place in the men's doubles- closely losing out in the third set 22-20.
Andy also took silver in the men's singles losing in the third set to Sam Parsons.

On the weekend of the 10th and 11th of September 2022 club members Andrew Wainwright,Will Kitching and Kiara Henry took part in the Milton Keynes Senior Gold at the Badminton Centre.
Andrew and Will lost in the quarter finals losing 21-18 and 21-11 against the 3/4 seeds Oliie Baczala and Ting Yu Goh.
Whilst Kiara Henry and her partner Ben Jarvis lost in the semi final 15-21 21-17 and 21-18 in the mixed to the number 1 seeds Adam Porter and Devon Minnis. Taking a well deserved bronze medal.
Kiara and her partner Susanna Ogden lost in the quarter final of the level doubles 16-21, 22-20 and 21-17.
There is no Monday session on the 21st of November 2022 and also no club night on the 23rd of November 2022
On the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of September 2022
Andrew Wainwright and Will Kitching took part in the University of Nottingham Senior Silver in which they reached the semi-final in the men’s doubles 26-24 and 21-18 losing out to the eventual winners Samuel Ricketts and Shane Wilson.
Tom Burton and Evie Hamar also took part in the mixed event and also made the semi final losing 21-8 and 21-17.

The county competitions give players the opportunity to represent their county in team based competition.
One of our coaches Will Kitching recently travelled to France to support Varsha Kumar on her way to to winning the U17 Yonex French Open between the 14th and 16th July 2022.
Congratulations to Sherman in the U13 Bucks Bronze tournament on the 23rd of July 2022 who came runner up in the boys singles event. Both Sherman and Sherlock also took part in the boys doubles event narrowly missing going through their group stage when they lost to the 2nd seeds 21-19.
We are one of the top clubs in the county, entering teams in the Coventry, Birmingham and Solihull Leagues. Although we have waiting lists for many of our groups and can boast having players who play for the county and represented England, we are still looking for females to play in our teams next season.

Congratulations to Sherlock Sheung Kiu Tai and Sherman Sheung Laam Tai who won the U12 boys double event at the recent Warwickshire U12 event.
Also Sherman Sheung Laam Tai also won the u12 boys singles title having beaten Sherlock Sheung Kiu Tai in the semi final !! .
The tournament took place on the 25th and 26th of June 2022 in Warwick.

Coventry League news 2022
The Solihull and Shirley ladies team have won the Ladies Premier League .
The Solihull and Shirley men's team have won the Division 2 league having won their last match on Friday the 13th of May 2022 at Langley School beating St Philips 1. They have been promoted into Division 1 league for next season.
One of our ex club members and committee members Helen Fulker has been given the opportunity to run The London Marathon in October 2022.
